Producing compliant and universal email code may be a designer’s worst nightmare. There are no W3C (World Wide Web Consortium) standards required of email providers (GMail, Hotmail, etc) and of email software (Outlook, Apple Mail, Eudora), which makes coding emails a verifiable minefield. Designers often find themselves committing code-atrocities and using methods ancient by todays standards! As you can see, email design presents unique challenges that once gotten right prove very rewarding!
